Annual Red Herring 100 to be awarded at the Red Herring Spring conference

NEW YORK, April 14, 2005 -- Today, Red Herring announced that eMeta Corporation, the leading provider of access control, subscription management and ecommerce software, has been named a finalist for the Red Herring 100 Private Companies of North America award program. More than 900 nominations were submitted for consideration.

Founded by software and information industry veterans, eMeta has established itself as the de facto standard solution for licensing and selling digital goods and services, including content, software, audio, video, rich media and games. eMeta’s mission-critical eRights Suite powers hundreds of Web sites, including dozens of the most prestigious media, software and entertainment companies around the globe. eMeta has experienced more than 30 percent revenue growth every year since its incorporation in 1999.

"There were many strong candidates for the Red Herring 100 list this year, so making it onto the list is quite an achievement," said Joel Dreyfuss, editor-in-chief of Red Herring. "In the post-bubble era, North American technology companies have focused on making sure management is strong and that the business model makes sense."

"We are honored to be included in the top 200 private companies in North America," said Jonathan Lewin, CEO and founder, eMeta. "We look forward to sharing this news with the eMeta community."

The Red Herring 100 Winners will be unveiled at the Red Herring Spring 2005 conference, May 17-19, 2005 in Monterey, Calif. Dedicated to celebrating the most exciting private North American companies, the three-day conference will feature keynote speeches, dynamic discussions and company presentations by the CEOs of the Red Herring 100.
