SWN Communications Implements Software as a Service with eMeta Technology

SWN application underscores breadth, quality of eMeta technology; pervasiveness of SaaS

NEW YORK, May 5, 2005 -- eMeta Corporation, the leading provider of access control and commerce software, today announced that SWN Communications, a real-time notification management company, deployed eMeta's eRightsWEB software for the licensing and commercialization of its flagship solution, Send Word Now. Send Word Now is a hosted, subscription-based software application that manages two-way communication during emergency situations.

“As a provider of mission-critical notification management systems, we are extremely selective of our vendors,” said Joel Plaut, Vice President of Program Management, SWN Communications. “eMeta has a reputation for high performance technologies that are reliable and secure. Like Send Word Now, eRightsWEB is a service-delivered software application. We’re now optimizing the benefits of SaaS we’ve been touting for years – cost savings, quick deployment, high availability and rich support.”

eMeta’s technology supports SWN’s recent expansion into the consumer market. RightCommerce, the ecommerce engine within eRightsWEB, allows SWN to create targeted product offerings at a range of levels; charge customers for ongoing usage by monthly and annual subscriptions; and accept multiple forms of payment, including credit cards. SWN uses eRightsWEB’s new rating and telco billing features to calculate and charge for messages, calls and overage.

“I believe we're witnessing the beginning of a long-term industry trend, as more companies license and sell software by subscription,” said Brian Kocsy, Product Manager, eMeta. “I’m excited that eMeta is partnering with fellow ISVs like SWN Communications as they develop or expand their service-oriented applications.”

eRightsWEB provides the essential features for SaaS commerce, including licensing, billing, promotion and customer service. Its software license enforcement and asset protection capabilities guard against software piracy. Tools to maintain, cultivate and up-sell subscribers include the ability to license on a per-seat, pay-per-use, subscription, modular, timed or trial period basis, allowing varied business models for the same service. eMeta empowers SaaS providers to overcome price resistance, optimize recurring revenue, and minimize customer churn, enabling new sales opportunities.
