eMeta Software Powers Account Management System for ProQuest’s XanEdu

Expansive Educational Content Operation Finds Success with eMeta’s eRights Suite

NEW YORK, August 9, 2005 -- eMeta Corporation, the leading provider of access control, subscription management and ecommerce software, today announced that XanEdu, a division of ProQuest Information and Learning, is using eMeta’s eRights Suite for internal account management.

eRights centralizes, recognizes and manages XanEdu’s user data, which includes account and behavioral information from institutions, partners and distributors that purchase content online, including CoursePacks. XanEdu’s signature offering, CoursePacks are customized learning tools that combine articles, excerpts from textbooks and other learning materials for use in and out of the classroom.

“XanEdu has a very focused core mission: to empower people to teach and learn,” said Mara Evans, manager of XanEdu product development. “eRights helps us carry out that mission, through a robust account management system. The software is simple to use, and it helps us manage a complex set of users – from institutional accounts and their members, to distribution partners such as bookstores, to managing intricate permissions sets for internal operations. To have all of this information in one place is priceless.”

With eRights, XanEdu has a powerful, flexible account management system. The account model itself is hierarchical, and allows for association of accounts at any level. The system manages information regarding specific account needs and contractual obligations, and feeds that data to the fulfillment, tracking and reporting functions for immediate action.

“XanEdu is the second division of ProQuest Information and Learning to use the eRights Suite,” said Jonathan Lewin, CEO and founder, eMeta. “The CoursePacks system enhances learning worldwide, and with eRights in place, there is no limit to the number or type of users. It is rewarding to know that eRights is supporting high-quality educational products and companies.”

eMeta’s eRights Suite allows organizations to effectively control and commercialize digital goods and services while collecting valuable customer data and offering customer care. These goods and services can include content, video and software applications of all kinds, from enterprise solutions to games. RightAccess is the access control solution within eRights while RightCommerce provides billing functionality. These products are available as part of the Suite or a la carte, and can be deployed as either a traditional or hosted software application.
